About
Every Moment is a Memory
Karl Stig Börje Jonsson was a Swedish painter and draftsman born June 9, 1913 in Köping, Öland, Kalmar County. He was the son of foreman Elof Jonsson and Elin Johansson, and in 1936 was married to Karin Sundén.
Jonzon was a student of the painter Ivan Hoflund in Kalmar during the years 1931–1932. From 1947–1950 the artist took study trips to France. Separately, he exhibited at Ekström's art gallery in Stockholm in 1943 and at Galerie Moderne in 1951. Throughout the 1950s he participated in group and collective exhibitions in Lyon and Paris, as well as Kalmar, Jönköping, and Örebro, and was represented at Le Groupe Contraste in the Palais Municipal and the Paris Salon in 1951, where he received an honorable mention award.
His art mainly consisted of city street depictions from Stockholm as well as landscapes with motifs from Kalmarsund, Öland and Paris. In 1940 he published a panel work (an illustrated folio) about old Kalmar with 50 of his own drawings. Jonzon passed away on June 15, 1987 in Resmo.
