Gunnar Jonn was a visual artist Born in 1904 in Malmö, the son of trustee John Charles Andersson and Augusta Elisabeth Jönsson. He studied at the Skåne Painting School in Malmö from 1926−1928. He made his debut with an exhibition at Malmö City Hall in 1929 and exhibited there again in 1933. One critic described his works as, "dramatic and then skyrocketing."
He traveled within Europe to Germany in 1930, to Norway in 1934, and to Yugoslavia in 1937. He became a student of Askel Jörgensen at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1933−1936 where he also spent time there at the fresco school. In the late 1930s, he worked with various experiments in materials, embossed paintings with chromoplastic compound.
He held a number of solo exhibitions including at Malmö Museum and at SDS-hallen in Malmö. He also took part in group exhibitions with the Skånes Art Association and with the Aura Art Group.
His works include public decorations from 1938−1939 al secco paintings in Solidar's office building and in ABF's new building in Malmö, as well as in Trelleborg's new Harbor Office in 1943. From 1941–1947 he lived on the island of Ven, where he painted many landscapes of the surroundings.
